Roland Lady Rangers beat Checotah, lose to Central, Muldrow, begin playoffs today
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

The Roland Lady Rangers went 1-2 last week as they got a 14-4 five-inning, run-rule victory at Checotah on April 14, but that win was sandwiched between losses to a pair of Sequoyah County rivals — falling 9-0 in five innings at Central on April 13 and losing 3-0 last Friday at Muldrow.

In the win over Checotah, he Lady Rangers (3-16) snapped a fivegame losing streak with the road victory.

The Lady Rangers never trailed, leading 2-0 after an inning, 2-1 after three innings and 7-3 after four innings. A seven-run fifth inning put the game into runrule status.

For the contest, Karsyn Serjeant was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two runs batted in, Kaia Cantrell was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Adriana Moya doubled with three runs scored and an RBI for Roland. Moya got the win.

In the loss to Central, the Lady Tigers scored three runs run the first inning, once in the third inning, three more runs in the fourth inning and twice in the fifth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Serjeant was 2-for-2 with a double, while Paisley Davis singled for the Lady Rangers. Moya suffered the loss.

In the loss to Muldrow, the Lady Bulldogs scored twice in the first inning and once in the fourth inning.

In defeat, Cantrell doubled, while Moya, Davis and Hannah Pratt each singled for Roland’s four hits off Muldrow pitcher Jaydin Dean. Moya suffered the loss.

After playing at Stilwell on Monday and at home Tuesday against Porum, the Lady Rangers will begin postseason play today in the Class 5A District Tournament at McLoud where they will meet the Seminole Lady Chieftains at noon, with the loser meeting the host Lady Redskins at 1:30 p.m. The Roland- Seminole winner will meet McLoud at 3 p.m. If there are only two teams remaining after the 3 p.m. game, the team with one loss will meet the team with no losses for the district title at 4:30 p.m. The ifgame will be at 6 p.m.

If all three teams are at 1-1 on the day after three games, then the 4:30 p.m. game will be Roland vs. Seminole, with the winner playing McLoud at 6 p.m. for the district champion.

Only the district champion will advance to next week’s Class 5A Regional Tournament.
