Muldrow Lady Bulldogs get Senior Night win over Roland, begin playoffs today

The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 win over the archrival Roland Lady Rangers on Friday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the week with an 8-3 home win over Warner on April 13 before losing 16-4 in four innings at Pocola on April 14.

In the win over Roland, the Lady Bulldogs (9-13) scored twice in the first inning and once in the fourth inning.

For the game, Jaydin Dean was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Noelia Parga doubled with a run batted in for Muldrow. Dean (9-13) got the win.

In the win over Warner, the Lady Bulldogs broke a 1-all tie with a three-run third inning, a run in the fourth inning, two runs in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth inning for an 8-2 lead.

For the game, Amarie Duran was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in, Haven Nickson was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Aliyah Duran was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored, Dean was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Kaydence Young was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, Parga was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Kynlee Thomas was 2-for-3 for Muldrow. Dean got the win.

In the loss to Pocola, the Lady Indians, ranked second in Class 4A, put away the game early with a four-run first inning and a sevenrun second inning for an 11-0 lead. After the Lady Bulldogs cut their deficit to 11-4 in the third, inning the Lady Indians put the game into run-rue status with a four-run third inning and single run in the fourth inning.

In defeat, Dean was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Amarie Duran singled with a run batted in and a run scored and both Nickson and Reagan Newbern singled with an RBI for Muldrow. Dean took the loss.

The Lady Bulldogs, who were slated to entertain Spiro on Monday afternoon, will begin postseason play today at the Class 5A District Tournament at North Rock Creek High School, located just north of Shawnee. Muldrow will play Cache at noon, with loser playing host North Rock Creek at 1:30 p.m. Then, the Muldrow-Cache winner will meet North Rock Creek at 3 p.m. If there are only two teams remaining after the 3 p.m. game, the team with one loss will meet the team with no losses for the district title at 4:30 p.m. The ifgame will be at 6 p.m.

If all three teams are at 1-1 on the day after three games, then the 4:30 p.m. game will be Muldrow vs. Cache, with the winner playing North Rock Creek at 6 p.m. for the district champion.

Only the district champion will advance to next week’s Class 5A Regional Tournament.
