Sequoyah County OHCE (Oklahoma Home and Community Education) has launched a new club that meets in the evenings to give working individuals the opportunity to participate in the organization’s activities.
OHCE has long recognized the inability of those still active in the workplace to attend the morning meeting of the existing club.
To meet that need, a new group has been formed, spearheaded by Donna Jamison and called, “Crafters After Fivers.”
To kick off their participation in the annual quilt show, the new club has worked together to create an additional throw-sized raffle quilt, which was drawn for from the raffle tickets sold leading up to the 2026 quilt show.
Members of the group completed sampler blocks, and the finished item was quilted by Julie Haywood.
“Crafters After Fivers” OHCE meets at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds on the second Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m.
“Akins” OHCE will continue to meet at 10 a.m. on the second Thursday of every month.
The public is invited to visit either group to learn more about OHCE and the community needs they have addressed in Sequoyah County for several generations.
OHCE is an all-volunteer statewide organization with members in local communities across all 77 counties.
Dedicated to lifelong learning and community service, OHCE empowers individuals by teaching valuable skills that enhance daily life.
Through friendship, support and shared knowledge, members work together to make a meaningful impact on their communities.
