The Central Tigers baseball team split their games last week with the Roland Rangers.
After the Rangers held off the Tigers 5-4 on April 6, the Tigers avenged that loss with a 1-0, eight-inning victory over the Rangers in the final game of Day 1 action last Thursday at the Central Tiger Shootout.
The final two games for the Tigers were rained out thanks to Friday evening’s showers. As of press time, the final two days of action of the tournament have not been set yet.
In the loss to Roland, the Rangers broke a 2-all tie with a run in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning for a 5-2 lead.
The Tigers (3-8) tried to rally in the seventh inning with two runs, but the rally came up short.
In defeat, Ryker Miller was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for Central.
Kaw-Liga Lewis (02) took the loss, despite striking out six batters in five innings. Chastin Webster pitched the sixth inning and recorded a strikeout.
In the tournament win over Roland, Central’s Kage Poindexter hit a two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to walk it off for Central.
Lewis was 2-for-4, Poindexter was 2-for-4 with the game-winning single and Miller doubled and scored the game-winning run for Central.
Bailey (1-1) got his first win of the season, going all eight innings with 12 strikeouts.
