By AMIE CATO-REMER EDITOR

The Muldrow Public School Board of Education met on Jan. 12, approving the district’s annual audit, awarding a contract for sports field lighting improvements and recognizing educators during a regularly scheduled meeting.

D uring the meeting, the board recognized the 2025– 26 Site Teachers of the Year: Elizabeth Rosenberg for the elementary school, Stefanie Followell for the middle school and Paige Lattimore for the high school. Rosenberg was also named the District Teacher of the Year.

Maria Munoz with Bledsoe, Hewett & Gullekson pre- sented the district’s 2024–25 annual audit report. The board unanimously approved acceptance of the audit.

The board also reviewed bids for sports fields lighting projects. KB Electric was identified as the lowest responsible bidder and representatives addressed the board. Following discussion, the board unanimously approved a contract with KB Electric for the lighting upgrades.

Consent agenda items were approved unanimously and included minutes from the Dec. 8, 2025, regular meeting; resignations from Lexi Anderson, Stacie Gray, John Harvell and Zachary Thibodeaux; 2025–26 general fund encumbrances totaling $37,411.99; a building fund encumbrance of $214,700; payroll encumbrances totaling $76,053.89; financial reports; and listed fundraiser requests.

Superintendent Angela Williams recognized January as School Board Recognition Month and presented certificates to board members. She also reviewed the January school calendar, Checotah Tournament brackets and a proposed calendar for the 2026–27 school year.

The board voted not to enter executive session. Members then unanimously approved the renewal of Lucky McCrary’s contract as assistant superintendent and federal programs director for the 2026–2027 school year. The board also approved the employment of Zane Rose as a special education teacher for the 2025–2026 school year.

In additional action, the board approved a transfer of funds from the band account to the FFA account. With no new business presented, the meeting adjourned at 6:54 p.m.
