Funeral services for Lorene (Sevenstar) Taylor, 84, of Belfonte, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at Belfonte Baptist Church.

Burial was at Belfonte Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Taylor was born on March 16, 1941, in Tahlequah to Jim Sevenstar and Betsy (Coleman) Sevenstar. She died on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, in Fort Smith, Ark.

She enjoyed singing praise songs in her native Cherokee language and being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include six daughters, Carolyn and Eddie Byers of Gans, Elsie Taylor, Irene Taylor, Betty Taylor-Raney and Sandra Soap and Jimmy Dale, all of Belfonte, and Loretta and Efrain Barrios of Fort Smith; two sons, Justin Taylor and Mark Taylor both of Belfonte; one sister, Flora Soap of Belfonte; two brothers, Wayne Sevenstar and Lee Sevenstar, both of Belfonte; 18 grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benn Lee Taylor; daughter, Joann Taylor; three brothers; son-in-law, Kenneth Raney; and two grandsons.

Pallbearers were Dustin Taylor, Andrew Mathews, Keith Mathews, Columbus Sevenstar, Eric Sevenstar and Aaron Sevenstar.
