The Roland Board of Education approved key leadership renewals, new hires and a range of financial and policy items during its regular meeting on Dec. 8, at the Roland Public Schools Administration Building.
Following the opening agenda items, the board entered executive session at 6:01 p.m. to discuss employment matters as allowed under Oklahoma statute.
Topics included the renewal of contracts for the superintendent and assistant superintendent, as well as the hiring of an early childhood teacher and a teacher assistant. No official action was taken during the closed session, and the board returned to open session at 7:05 p.m.
In open session, the board unanimously approved the renewal of Superintendent Lori Wiggins’ contract, followed by the renewal of Assistant Superintendent Angie Goode’s contract.
Board members also approved the hiring of Kristin Foust as an early childhood teacher and Katie Allen as a teacher assistant.
The board accepted the resignations of Deborah Wood and Casie Kemp, with both actions passing unanimously.
Policy updates were also approved, including revisions to the district’s Drug-Free Workplace policy (DCC) and Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing regulations (DCC-R).
A significant portion of the meeting focused on financial matters.
Board members unanimously approved general fund, building fund, bond fund, co-op fund and sinking fund encumbrances, along with payroll encumbrances, purchase order claims and warrants, monthly activity fund reports and the treasurer’s report for the 2025– 26 school year.
Approved expenditures included more than $120,000 in general fund encumbrances, over $649,000 in general fund payroll, and additional amounts across building and coop funds.
Under new business, the board approved an Open Records Notification document to be posted during school closures.
During her administrator’s report, Superintendent Wiggins reminded the board of numerous upcoming events scheduled over the next two weeks.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. following a unanimous vote.
