All eastbound lanes of I-40 near mile marker 330 in Sequoyah County were shut down early last Sunday after a cable fell into the roadway and was struck by multiple vehicles, authorities said.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the incident was reported at around 6:10 a.m., prompting the closure of the left, center and right lanes on the eastbound side of the interstate. Troopers closed all eastbound traffic while crews worked to remove the cable and ensure the roadway was safe.
The closure remained in effect for just over two hours. Eastbound lanes reopened at about 8:15 a.m., for a total closure time of two hours and five minutes.
No injuries were immediately reported. The incident was handled by OHP Troop C in Muskogee. Trooper Jay Galvan was the responding authority.
