The Cookson Hills Electric (CHE) Foundation recently awarded a series of community grants through its Operation Round Up program, continuing a tradition of local support that has been central to the cooperative’s mission since 1945.
Operation Round Up allows CHE Cooperative members to voluntarily round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar, donating the difference to a charitable fund. Those small contributions add up to meaningful support for individuals and organizations across the cooperative’s service area.
This year’s grants were awarded to a range of organizations providing essential services, including the Boys & Girls Club of Sequoyah County; Gore United Methodist Church Food Pantry; Kozie Quilters of Muldrow; the Liberty, Marble City, Nicut and Tamaha rural fire departments; Rural Communities Initiative Foundation; and United Faith Food Pantry in Sallisaw.
Foundation officials said the program highlights the impact of collective generosity, noting that even modest monthly donations can help strengthen communities, support emergency services and assist families in need.
