Darrell ‘Sid’ Walters

May 13, 1939 – Aug. 2, 2025

Funeral services for Darrell “Sid” Walters, 86, of Sallisaw, were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Seabolt Cemetery in Muldrow,under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mr. Walters was born May 13, 1939, in Nicut, to Bob and Maude L. (Flanagan) Walters. He passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at his home in Sallisaw.

He was a 1958 graduate of Muldrow High School and completed his education at Northeastern State University majoring in Education. He began his career as a coach at Moffett Public Schools, and coached teams for the Sallisaw Central Tigers, Roland Rangers and Blue Jacket Chieftains. He loved spending time on Tenkiller or Kerr Lake, fishing, enjoying the scenery and weather, and attended Missionary Baptist Church in Sallisaw.

Survivors are his wife, Linda Walters; children, Bobby and Amber Walters, Cheylone and Dean Myers, Lisa and Lyle Parman, Todd Chadwell, Kayla Chadwell, Deanna Akin and Mike Kirk, Cyndi Harris and Nathan and Taylor Chadwell; in-laws, Danny and Glenda Wilkie, and Noelia Martinez-Thomas; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Walters; brother, Dewey Walters; sister, Margaret Palmer; in-laws, EK and Juanita Thomas; brothers-in-law, Charles and Gary Wayne Thomas; sister-in-law, Brenda Hensley; and granddaughter, Jordan Harris.

Pallbearers were Chase Pyeatt, LeRoy Gardener, Connor Harris, Derrick Blount, Dean Myers and Lyle Parman.

Honorary pallbearers were Gunner Harris, Joe Cheater, Mike Cheater, Marty Ross, Cody Walters, Stanley Andrews, Todd Chadwell, Danny Wilkie, Chase Pyeatt, Kaleb Parman, Bobby Walters, Nathan Chadwell and Sam Akin.
