Funeral services for Amon H. Wells, 92, of Roland, were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Roland Pentecostal Church in Roland. Burial followed at Roland City Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Wells was born on Sept. 28, 1932, in Liberty, to Cora Bell (Romines) Wells and James Riley Wells. He passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
He married Vera Arletta (Stoll) Wells on May 24, 1955, in Poplar, Calif. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2023.
He attended Liberty School and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and worked at Oakley Smith, Ward’s Furniture, DeSoto and retired from Baldor after 20 years. He also enjoyed attending auctions.
Survivors are a daughter, Wendy Hall and husband Carroll; son, William Wells and wife Cindy; step-children, Crystal Graper, Roger Guinn Jr. and Joseph Guinn; sister, Sharon Walker; brother, Bob Wells and wife Pat; several grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Melba Burton; brother-in-law, Victor; brother, J.R. Wells; adopted son, Gene Ross; and sister-inlaw, Joy Wells.
Pallbearers were Larry Ramey, Colt Ramey, Travis Cox, Branson Wells, Spencer Wells and Jaxon Wells.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry and Jacky Brooks.
