Funeral services for Albert John Luttmer, 75, were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, officiated by Bro. Keith Williams. Burial followed at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
Mr. Luttmer was born on Dec. 18, 1949, in Littlefield, Texas, to Albert Hubert and Josephine Ziegenfuss Luttmer. He passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025.
He graduated from Madill High School in 1968, and earned an associate degree from Murray State College in 1970, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Education from Southeastern State University in 1972. In 1977, he completed a Master’s Degree in Natural Science. He began his teaching career in 1972 at Madill Junior High and continued at Whitesboro, Texas, from 1973-76. In 1976, he began a 37-year tenure at Sallisaw Public Schools as a teacher and coach. He was a member of Covenant Church in Poteau.
Survivors are his wife, Henrietta, of the home; sister, Bertha Luttmer of Moore; brother, Norbert Luttmer of Madill; sons, Robert and Jennifer Luttmer of Piedmont and Ryan and Tiffany Luttmer of Mena, Ark.; four grandchildren; brother-in-law, Stanley and Debbie Odom of Howe; sister-in-law, Susie Odom of Poteau; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Larry Odom.
Pallbearers were Mike Odom, Chris Odom, Trevor Odom, Dean Odom, Jacob Luttmer, Bryson Luttmer and Carson Odom.
Honorary pallbearers were Matthew Luttmer and Charli Luttmer.
