Funeral services for Shelby Wayne Sells, 80, were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Forever Memories Funeral Home Services in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Brushy Cemetery under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
Mr. Sells was born on Dec. 7, 1944, in Brushy, to Dovie Sue Gardenhire and Bill Sells. He passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025.
He worked as a sawmiller at the family-owned and operated mill and later went on to build communication towers alongside his sons. He always had a story to tell, loved to reminisce about the good ole days, and could always make you laugh.
He married Maxine Viola Daniels on Feb. 6, 1965, in Stilwell.
Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Maxine Viola Sells of Brushy; brother-in-law, Buster Daniels of Sallisaw; three sons, Anthony Sells, Shelby Sells, and Teddy Sells and wife Buffie, all of Brushy; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and Ted Gardenhire, who raised him.
Pallbearers were Hesston Sells, Justin Sells, Chris Sells, Teddy Wayne Sells, Tripp Sells and Dallas Jones.
