Funeral services for Maj. Jack Anderson Smith, Jr., USAF, Ret., 88, were held at 12 noon on Tues., April 29, 2025, at Trinity Methodist Church in Muldrow. Burial followed at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark.
Mr. Smith was born on Jan. 21, 1937, in Okmulgee, to Ura Mae (Purvine) Hedgecock and Jack Anderson Smith. He passed away on Wed., April 23, 2025, in Fort Smith.
He married Willa “Mae” (Fugett) Smith on March 15, 1956, in Muldrow. She preceded him in death on Nov. 24, 2024.
Mr. Smith honored his country with 20 years of dedicated service in the U.S. Air Force, retiring at the esteemed rank of Major. His commitment and bravery were celebrated through numerous accolades and medals.
Survivors are a brother, Ron Smith of Marengo, Ill., sister-in-law Mollie Nichols of Muldrow and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Donald Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Tad Rhodes, Ken Barentine, Colby Gibson, Stoney Ogdon, Larry Blake, Larry and Mary Bonrud, and members of Trinity Methodist Church.
