Funeral services for Billy Bryan Southern, 85, of Muldrow, were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church in Muldrow. Burial followed at Memory Garden Cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Southern was born on April 28, 1939, in Sallisaw, to William and Beulah (King) Southern. He died on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Little Rock, Ark.
He was married to Marie Fostnaught on June 26, 1959, in Sallisaw.
He was employed at Kansas Milling Company for 12 years in Wichita, Kan., and retired from Rheem Manufacturing. He was a master mason for 55 years and a two time worshipful master of Lodge No. 30 Bruton achieving a 32nd Degree Mason status. He was a member of Eastside Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors are three children, Joe and Debbie Southern, Anna Borchers, and Billy and Tammy Southern; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Shannon Southern and Bryan Lasiter; six brothers, Willard, Gene, Dale, Sid, Don and Gary Southern; and four sisters, Maxine Hardwick, Shirley Henson, Joann Brown and Joyce Lewis.
Pallbearers were Austin Southern, Kyle Borchers, Larry Dyer, Richard Watson, Dwayne Brown and Dennis Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were The Brothers of Bruton Lodge No. 30 in Muldrow.
