Funeral services for Ruth Shackelford, 87, of Muldrow, were held at 10 a.m.Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church in Roland. Burial followed at Paw Paw cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
Mrs. Shackelford wad born on May 19, 1936, in Paw Paw to John and America Owens. She died on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at her home.
She was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed cooking, crochet, and spending time out in her yard. he was married to Bill Shackelford on Aug. 31, 1951, and he preceded her in death in 2008.
Survivors are her children, Billy and wife Joann Shackelford of Erick, Sharon Chapman, Sue Matlock and Janice “Buggie” Ganz, all of Muldrow; sister, Lela Waldrop; 11 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Essie Gibbons, Marie Chapman and Hazel Shackelford; brothers, Ed Owens and Donald Owens; grandson, Shannon Chapman; and a greatgranddaughter.
