Graveside services for Ila Marie Twist, 80, of Westville, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, at Box Cemetery with Heath Wood officiating under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services.
Mrs. Twist was born on Jan. 11, 1944, in Nicut to Jesse Wheelers Sims and Maude Ethel Kilpatrick. She died on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, in Fayetteville, Ark.
She attended Muldrow Public Schools and graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah with a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught in Kansas and Oklahoma for over 34 years. Her hobbies included playing the piano and baking.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Vernon Lee Twist; son, Joseph and Joyce Twist; three grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings.
