Graveside services for Bernis Harvell “Mule” Allen, 76, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Blackjack Cemetery in Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Allen was born to Harvell and Minnie (Turner) Allen and died on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Fort Smith, Ark.
He was a graduate of Muldrow High School and attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, and worked as a masonry, carpenter, and contractor, and at Fort Chaffee Army Post in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Services, retiring in 1996. He attended church at the House of Refuge in Gans.
He married Sherrill (Jones) Allen on Feb. 14, 2008.
Survivors are his wife, Sherrill; children, Chad Allen and wife Clarissa, and Sarah Ramirez and fiancé Shay Crawford; five grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; his siblings, Eual Allen, Shannon and Elaine Allen, Kay Vanzandt, Frances and John Wilson, Jeanie and David Morton, and Velma and the late Kenneth Edwards; and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Doug, Mike and Lex Allen.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Jones, John Victor Small, Jeff Neighbors, Billy Edwards, Cameron Allen and Sean Pruitt.
Honorary pallbearers were Dan Pinner and Charlie Dye.
