Funeral services for Alvin Ramer, Jr., 82, of Roland, were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow. Burial followed at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Ramer was born on April 20, 1941, in Heavener to Lois (Akins) Watts and Alvin Ramer, Sr. He died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, in Van Buren, Ark.
He was a painter, of the Assembly of God faith, and a former Golden Gloves boxer and Toughman contestant.
Survivors are one daughter, Cheryl Yarberro and Ricky of Bonanza, Ark.; two sons, Gary Ramer and Barbara and Larry A. Weaver, all of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Mason of Roland and Carol Woods of Witcherville, Ark,; one brother, Wayne Watts of Roland; and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Bobby Mason and James Woods; and one daughter-in-law, Jocelyn Weaver.
