Gans – Funeral services for Marion Marie Brown, 85, of Gans, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Fort Smith, Ark.
Burial was at 11 a.m. at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown was born on Sept. 23, 1938, in Arlington Heights, Ill., to Friedrich Dettmer and Wilhelmine (Brandt) Dettmer. She died on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, in Fort Smith.
She was a legal secretary and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
She married Billy Don Brown on May 29, 1960, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2021.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Brown of Gans; one son, Darrell and Sherry Brown of Fort Smith; two grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lillian Shipley; and two brothers, Walter Dettmer and Leonard Dettmer.
