The Gans Lady Grizzlies got two road wins last week, a 13-4 five-inning victory at Kinta on April 13 and a 17-9 win at Indianola on April 14.
Last Thursday’s home game against Okay as well as last Friday’s home rematch against Indianola were rained out.
In the win over Kinta, the Lady Grizzlies (712) led 3-2 after an inning, and used a threerun fifth inning to put the game into run-rule status.
For the contest, Yesenia Gaona was 3-for-3 with a double and a run batted in, Nora Barnes was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, Abigail Leach was 2-for-3 with her first home run of the season, a three-run, inside- the-park shot, and four RBIs and Makenzy Hunter doubled with four RBIs and two runs scored for Gans. Gaona (3-8) got the win.
In the victory over Indianola, the Lady Grizzlies broke a 9-all tie with an eight-run seventh inning.
For the game, Hunter was 4-for-4 with a double, four runs batted in and three runs scored, Leach was 3-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, Gaona was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, Barnes was 2-for-4 with a double, four runs scored and an RBI and Brighton Dorsey was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored for Gans.
Barnes (1-2) got her first win of the season in relief, as she went the final 6.1 innings after Gaona got the first two outs of the game.
After playing their regular-season finales on Monday afternoon at home against Braggs and at Webbers Falls on Tuesday, the Lady Grizzlies will play in the Class A District Tournament on Thursday at Whitesboro. The Lady Grizzlies will play the Bennington Lady Bears at noon, with the loser meeting the host Lady Bulldogs at 1:30 p.m. The Gans-Bennington winner then will play Whitesboro at 3 p.m.
If one team has been eliminated by Game 3, the two remaining teams will play for the district title at 4:30 p.m. with the if-game at 6 p.m.
If all three teams are 1-1 after the first three games, then Gans and Bennington will play a second time at 4:30 p.m., with the winner playing Whitesboro at 6 p.m. for the district championship.
Only the district champion will advance to next week’s Class A Regional Tournament.
