Muldrow Bulldogs drop two at home to Pocola Indians
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

The Muldrow Bulldogs lost both games of their home doubleheader to the Pocola Indians on April 22 by scores of 4-0 in six innings and 11-2.

In the opener, the Indians broke a scoreless tie after the five innings of regulation baseball with a four-run sixth in-Muldrow ning. In defeat, Jace Prewett was 2-for-3, Jackson Phillips doubled and Trey Turpin tripled for the Bulldogs (5-21).

Jonah Claborn (2-6) was the hard-luck loser, getting 12 strikeouts in six innings, but only allowing an earned run as the other three Pocola runs were unearned due to a sixth-inning error.

In the nightcap, the Indians took the early lead at 4-0 in the first inning. After the ’Dogs scored once in their half of the frame to cut the deficit to 4-1 after an inning, the Indians put away the game with two runs in the second inning, a run in the third inning and four runs in the fifth inning.

In defeat, Wyatt Prewett doubled and Chris Phelps singled for Muldrow’s two hits off Pocola pitcher Logan Dunnigan, who struck out four batters in five innings.

Jace Prewett (1-5) took the loss, getting all three outs in the opening inning by strikeout. Jack Rhodes pitched the second inning with a strikeout, then Wyatt Prewett went the final three innings with three Ks.

The ’Dogs, who played their Senior Night game on Monday at home against Gore, found out Monday from the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association where they will play this week’s Class 4A Regional Tournament.
