RATTAN — The Gans Lady Grizzlies saw their slow-pitch softball season come to a screeching halt as they got beat twice by the host Rattan Lady Rams by scores of 11-1 in four innings and 13-1 in three innings at the Class 2A District Tournament on April 22.
In Game 1, after the Lady Grizzlies (4-16) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady Rams scored twice in the first inning to take the lead for good at 2-1, then scored three runs in each of the next three innings to put the game into runrule status.
In defeat, Gabbie Price, Abigail Leach and Maddie Freeman each singled for the three Gans hits. Phillips (3-9) took the loss.
In Game 2, after the Lady Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady Rams scored seven runs in the first inning and once in the second inning for an 8-1 lead. A five-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Price, Leach, Freeman, K’Cee Osborn and Destiny Phillips each singled for Gans.
Yesenia Gaona (2-3) suffered the loss in relief, going the final 1.1 innings. Phillips was the starter and just got the first two outs of the opening inning.
