Gans Lady Grizzlies outlast Okay in extra innings, lose to Arkoma/Cameron, Antlers

The Gans Lady Grizzlies went 1-2 last week, outlasting Okay 13-10 in eight innings on April 15 in Okay, but losing 30-16 in eight innings to Arkoma/Cameron on April 14.

In the win over Okay, after the Lady Grizzlies (4-13),who did not play in the Leflore Tournament at the end of last week as originally scheduled, snapped an eight-game losing streak with the road victory.

After the Lady Grizzlies tied the game at 10-all with a three-run seventh inning to force extra innings, they won the game with a threerun eighth inning.

For the contest, K’Cee Osborn was 4-for-5 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, Abigail Leach was 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored, Makenzy Hunter was 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Taylor Barger was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Yesenia Gaona was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Maddie Freeman was 2-for-5 with an RBI, Amarys White was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI and Destiny Phillips was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored for Gans, which started play Thursday in the Leflore Tournament.

Phillips (3-8) got the win as she recorded two strikeouts.

In the loss to Arkoma/ Cameron, the visitors broke a 14-all tie after six innings with a 16-run eighth inning to get the win.

In defeat, Gabbie Price was 3-for-5 with a double, her third home run of the season, five runs batted in and three runs scored, Osborn was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, Leach was 3-for-5 with a triple, her first homer of the season which was an inside-the-park in the sixth inning to tie the game at 14-all, three runs scored and two RBIs, Addy Bibbs was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, White was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored and Remi Hughes was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for the Lady Grizzlies.

Destiny Phillips suffered the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in seven-plus innings. Yesenia Gaona got the final three outs of the game.

The Lady Grizzlies will visit Rattan this week for the Class 2A District Tournament.
