Behold! Jesus Christ – The Lamb of God
Commentary
April 22, 2025
Behold! Jesus Christ – The Lamb of God
Who takes away the sin of the world!
By Shirley R. Watts

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God” (John 1:1-2). “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

Jesus came down from Heaven. He was born of a virgin. He lived a perfect life. He was the “sacrificial Lamb” slain for sin. The sacrifice for sin required a perfect blood sacrifice. Only He could die for the sin of Adam’s disobedience that took place in the Garden and was imputed to us.

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me’” (John 1:29-30).

“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned —“ (Romans 5:12).

He is my Savior! He forgave me! I have eternal life. He died in my place on that cross, because I could not die for myself and receive the forgiveness of God. Now God has declared me righteous before Him. When He sees me, He sees the blood of His Son and His righteousness.

Before I was saved, I was as a dead person, doomed, depraved and disobedient. God through His Spirit convicted me of this deadness. I had rejected His Son and had no hope. As I realized what He had done for me and had sent His only Son to purchase me from the market place of sin. I repented of the sin and asked His forgiveness and placed my faith in Him. He gave me eternal life. I am free!

Have you realized that you are a dead sinner and need the Savior Jesus Christ?

“Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. Then they took Jesus and led Him away… where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center,”So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!”And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” (John 19:1619,30-31).

Jesus “who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:2 He was buried in a borrowed tomb and the third day Jesus was resurrected from the dead, just as He said. This gives those who believe in Him eternal life, for they too will be resurrected.

He is alive! He is coming soon for His Church and later will set up His Kingdom and rule of the throne of David in the Millennium.

Unbeliever the Bible says “ that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom 10:9-13).

Jesus is the Son of God. You can have eternal life in Him. Consider Him today. Judgment is coming! “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,… ”(Rom. 3:23).

Christian, let us look at our lives and see if we are serving the Lord. Do you love Him above all?

“…looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works”. Titus 2:13-15
