Love God – Hate Evil
That There Be No Outcry in Our Streets
By Shirley R. Watts

“Stretch out Your hand from above; Rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, From the hand of foreigners, Whose mouth speaks lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood” (Ps 144:7-8).

The enemies of Israel were many. They were causing problems. David as king was much concerned both for the land and the people. Israel still has many enemies, but let us also look at our Nation and its enemies.

The “great waters” (nkjv) and the “strange children”(kjv) represent the outsiders who were attacking Israel… the aliens and foreigners. They were finding their way into the Nation through lies only to destroy. When they reached leadership positions, they lied under oath to deceive. “Whose mouth speaks lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.”

Does this sound much like our Nation today and the “foreigners” who have both slipped in and those who are “born here” who are deceiving us. Our Nation is under attack!

The Church is also under attack! Our homes, children in school, our youth, marriages, local churches are all suffering at the hand of enemies, foreign and American born!!!

David needed God’s help and cried out to Him with praise and petition for the land and the people.

In praise, “Blessed be the Lord my Rock…My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, My shield and the One in whom I take refuge…”(Ps 144:1-2).

For deliverance, “Bow down Your heavens, O Lord, and come down; Touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Shoot out Your arrows and destroy them. Stretch out Your hand from above; Rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, From the hand of foreigners, Whose mouth speaks lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. (Ps 144:5-8). These are non-worshipers of God!

David knew the power of God and believed that God would help him. He had faith!

Petition for the Land and the people: The Land must be safe if the people were to be safe. First he prayed for the homes, “That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as pillars, Sculptured in palace style; (Ps 144:12).

He then prayed, “That our barns may be full, Supplying all kinds of produce; That our sheep may bring forth thousands And ten thousands in our fields; That our oxen may be well laden; That there be no breaking in or going out; That there be no outcry in our streets. (Ps 144:13-14).

How is the Church praying today? Are we really concerned or are we blind to what is happening? The power of the Holy Spirit moving through the True Church (Born-Agains of God) is the only hope of our Nation and the world. The world can never save itself!

Do we see God as David did?

Our Nation is under attack! Our freedom! Our homes, churches, schools, governments and yes, Washington DC!

I believe all this derives from an attack on the Church. It is what we stand for! We are against evil! We love God! We worship Him! We have a hope! We are on mission! We have by faith accepted Christ and His Resurrection. It is about our beliefs! They hate and desire to destroy us.

There are too many false gods in our land and churches. Yes! We are beginning to sound like the land of Canaan with all the “ites.” Too many liars and deceivers in our Nation, some born here, some sneak in or break through the wall. The “anti-Christ” movement (soldiers of Satan)is moving swiftly through the land.

What do we do? “You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked” (Ps 97:10).

We cry out to God! We hate evil, know the enemies through the Word of God, train and defend our faith, learn how to wear the armor, make plans through prayer, set traps, protect each other and fight the good fight of faith.

“Happy are the people whose God is the Lord! Amen!

Armor up!
