Gans Lady Grizzlies begin slow-pitch softball season 1-2

The Gans Lady Grizzlies started their first week of the 2025 slowpitch softball season 1-2 after beating Oaks 17-1 on Thursday as part of a road three-way at Mc-Curtain. The Lady Grizzlies lost 12-3 to the host Lady Bulldogs before losing 21-3 at Porum on Friday.

In the win over Oaks, the Lady Grizzlies scored three runs in the first inning, eight runs in the second inning and six runs in the third inning for a 17-0 lead to put the game into runrule status.

For the contest, Gabbie Price was 3-for-4 with a double, her first home run of the season, three runs batted in and two runs scored, Maddie Freeman was 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored, K’Cee Osborn was 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored, Abigail Leach was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI and Destiny Phillips was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Phillips (1-1) got the win.

In the loss to McCurtain, the Lady Bulldogs rallied from a 3-2 deficit as they scored three runs in the second inning and seven runs in the fifth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Addy Bibbs doubled, while Price, Osborn, Phillips and Yesenia Gaona all singled for Gans.

Gaona (0-1) took the loss, going the first 3.2 innings. Phillips got the final out of the game.

In the loss to Porum, after the Lady Grizzlies cut their deficit to 7-3 in the second inning, the Lady Panthers put the game into run-rule status with a 14-run second inning.

In defeat, Makenzy Hunter doubled, while Phillips and Amarys White each singled as the Lady Grizzlies had only three hits in the game. Phillips took the loss.
