Muldrow teams sweep Sallisaw, Checotah

It was a perfect week on the hardwood for the Muldrow High School basketball teams last week as they each swept a pair of NOAA Conference doubleheaders.

After sweeping the Checotah teams on their home court on Feb. 11, the Muldrow squads spoiled Senior Night for the Sallisaw teams Friday night at Paul Post Field House.

On Friday night, the Lady Bulldogs completed the season sweep of the Lady Diamonds with a 38-27 victory, then the ’Dogs also completed the season sweep of the Black Diamonds with a 68-49 win.

On Feb. 11 in Checotah, the Lady Bulldogs got past the Lady Wildcats 40-37, and the ’Dogs tamed the ’Cats 70-42.

In the girls’ win over Sallisaw, the Lady Bulldogs (15-8 overall, 8-2 in NOAA Conference play) rallied from a 15-14 second-quarter deficit to take a 19-17 halftime lead. In the second half, Muldrow outscored Sallisaw 12-9 in the third quarter and 7-1 in the final period to complete the comefrom- behind victory. For the game, London Hardin scored nine points to lead Muldrow, followed by Kilah Ellingberg and Maysi Fields with eight points each, Jensi Fields with seven points, Chloee Clark, Kayla Ellingberg and Danica Tune with two points apiece.

In the boys’ victory over Sallisaw, the Bulldogs (17-6, 6-4) jumped out to an 11-4 lead after a quarter, which became a 30-16 halftime advantage and a 53-36 lead going into the final period.

For the game, Teaguen Collins scored a game-high 21 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Jesse Kilinc with 17 points, D.J. Massey and Parker Sevenstar with eight points each, Jermauree Palmer and Jaxson Anstine each with six points and Jack Pyeatt with two points.

In the girls’ win over Checotah, the Lady Bulldogs doubled the host Lady Wildcats in the first quarter by a count of 14-7 en route to an 18-9 halftime advantage and a 25-17 lead going into the final period.

For the game, Hardin scored a game-high 17 points and Kilah Ellingberg added 12 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Jensi Fields with five points, Tune with three points, Maysi Fields with two points and Kayla Ellingberg with a free throw.

In the boys’ victory over Checotah, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 21-6 lead over the Wildcats after the first quarter and were never headed.

For the game, Collins scored a game-high 24 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Kilinc with 12 points, Anstine with 10 points, Sevenstar with eight points, DeShawn Willson with seven points, E.J. Zanders with four points, Massey and Kendal Howell with two points each and Palmer with a free throw.
