Contracts, policies approved in Muldrow School Board meeting
By AMIE CATO-REMER EDITOR

The Muldrow Public School Board convened at 6 p.m. on February 10, in the Administration/Cafetorium Building to address various agenda items, including staffing changes, upcoming school year plans, and facility management.

The board approved several motions, including the employment of Darrel Darden as temporary support staff for the remainder of the 202425 school year, and Leah Agent as an adjunct instructor for Anatomy and Physiology at ICTC for the 2025-26 school year. In addition, the board also approved allowing math and science courses delivered at ICTC to be counted for graduation credit during the 2025-26 school year.

Additionally, the board approved the renewal of contracts with Ruth Kelly Studio for school pictures and Oklahoma Teacher & Leader Effectiveness for the 2025-26 school year.

In the Superintendent’s Report, Roger Sharp highlighted important updates, including basketball playoff assignments, spring sports schedules, and new graduation requirements set to take effect in 2025-26. He also discussed the upcoming National School Board Convention and the need for bus route adjustments in the coming years.

A significant motion passed to approve the proposed school calendar for the 2025-26 school year, ensuring preparations for the next academic year are on track. The board also voted to advertise for sealed bids to hire a grant writer/manager for the proposal to construct a safe room at Muldrow Elementary.

Federal Program Coordinator Angela Williams was also given the green light to file grant applications for the 2025 Security Grant Program, FEMA and Opioid grants.

In other business, the board discussed surplus items, approved changes to district policies, and declined personal leave requests made by two employees, Linda Gonzalez and Shayla Owens.

Resignations were also accepted from Leslie Broyles, Jaime Clevenger, Jimmy Coughran, Chance Matlock and John Windland, and Gracy Carson, Gerald Floyd, Shanae Gage and Heather “Niki” Morgan were approved as substitutes for the remainder of the school year.
