Mullin named to Senate GOP Deputy Whip team

Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-WY) has announced that U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) will serve on the Deputy Whip team during the 119th Congress. The Deputy Whip team has a unique responsibility to unite the Senate Republican conference, ensure they have the votes to pass or block legislation, and help lead the charge to enact Presidentelect Donald J. Trump’s policy agenda.

“I’m grateful to my friend, Senator John Barrasso, for choosing me to serve on his Deputy Whip team to help strengthen our Republican conference and fight for the America First agenda,” Senator Mullin said. “With President Donald J. Trump headed back to the White House in a matter of days, Senate Republicans must be united and ready to govern effectively— that means being in the same boat, rowing in the same direction. Together, we will secure the southern border, unleash American energy, bring down the cost of living, and restore peace through strength on the world stage. All 77 counties in Oklahoma voted to re-elect President Trump, and I’ll do everything I can in my capacity as Deputy Whip to unify our conservative movement and Make America Great Again.”

“I’m glad to have Markwayne in the ring as a member of our Whip team,” Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso said. “He’s a tough conservative with an extraordinary understanding of Congress. He’s honest and trusted by members in the Senate and the House. Markwayne is an undefeated fighter for Republicans.”

Sen. Mullin previously served on Senate Minority Whip John Thune’s (RSD) Deputy Whip team in the 118th Congress. He was designated as the Senate GOP liaison to the House of Representatives and will continue this role under Senate Majority Whip Barrasso.
