Muldrow Bulldogs end football season with Senior Night win over Locust Grove
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

The Muldrow Bulldogs were disappointed a couple of weeks ago when they were knocked out of Class 3A playoff contention, but the 2024 season did end the way few teams’ season can — by winning their final contest.

Thanks to a strong defensive effort and two fourth-quarter touchdowns, the Bulldogs celebrated Senior Night with a 22-20 victory over the Locust Grove Pirates on a rainy night at Marty Rogers Field.

“Our kids came out, and it was a monsoon,” Muldrow coach Logan Coatney said. “Our kids came out and played extremely hard. We executed when we had to. Our defense did an outstanding job of doing what they had to do to keep us in the ball game. I’m just proud of our team. I’m proud of the way they came out and executed, and I’m proud that we were able to end the season with a win.”

Trailing 6-0 after a period and 20-0 in the third quarter, the ’Dogs (5-5 overall, 2-5 in District 3A-3 play), who ended their five-game district losing streak, cut the deficit to 20-8 with 1:30 left in the third quarter on a Teaguen Collins 2-yard touchdown run and his twopoint conversion run.

The Bulldogs closed things out strong by pitching a shutout in the fourth quarter defensively, while getting two offensive TDs in the period.

Jacob Gregory’s 14yard TD run came with 11 minutes left in the game, then Collins scored his second touchdown of the night on a 67-yard scamper. Collins also scored the two-point conversion after his second TD.

For the game, Collins rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns, while Gregory had 57 yards rushing and a TD.

“Our kids have bat-tled hard this season,” Coatney said. “That’s one thing we’ve continuously talked about and praised our kids — They’re not quitters. They’re fighters. They’re going to fight to the very end.”
