Roland individual win Spiro Invitational, Muldrow teams second, Central JH girls team champions

SPIRO — Roland’s Molly Carver was the individual female winner in the Spiro Invitational, which took place Oct. 1 at old Spiro Lake.

In the high school girls’ meet, the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs were second (49 points) and the Roland Lady Rangers third (73). The Heavener Lady Wolves won the team championship with 32 points.

Carver beat out Heavener’s Chloe Mcmahon for first place as Carver won with a time of 14:05.2 and McMahan ran a 14:23.14 to place second. Carver was Roland’s only female runner to place in the top 15.

The Lady Bulldogs had two runners make the top five as Genna Stephenson was third (14:24.79) and Emma Fields was fourth (14:38.64).

Three more Lady Bulldogs made the top 20 as Isabelle Rogers was 14th (16:05.94), Jensi Fields was 16th (16:39.69) and Noa Coleman was 20th (17:06.5). Maysi Fields was 31st (19:22.99).

The Lady Rangers had two more runners make the top 20 as Cadence Cole was 18th (17:01.69), while Abby Bower was 19th (17:05.43). Landyn Ramsey was 21st (17:07.74), Anistyn Howard was 28th (18:25.95) and Mira Reagan was 33rd (20:21.85).

Central’s Cambree Bair made the top five as she was fifth (14:14.64), and two more Lady Tigers made the top 20 — Scarlett Harrison was 13th (16:01.72) and Xhayla Mosby was 17th (16:56.7). Rilegh Ford was 24th (17:52.28), Jacilynn Young was 32nd (19:40.37) and Gracie Thompson was 34th (20:56.82).

Sallisaw’s Sama Salinas beat Roland’s Landon Killer for first place as Salinas won the boys’ meet with a time of 17:38.89, with Killer coming in second (18:27.56).

In team standings, the Muldrow Bulldogs were runners-up with 44 points as they were nipped by team champion Heavener (43 points).

The ’Dogs had two runners make the top 10 and a total of four make the top 15.

Jesse Kilinc was fifth (19:11.55), Kendal Howell was seventh (19:51.21), Jaxson Anstine was 11th (20:49.32) and Kaden Rye was 12th (20:49.83).

As for other Bulldogs, Seth Nance was 32nd (24:11.28), Zeeshan Bukhari was 34th (25:46.99), Brady Boshers was 35th (25:59.85), Jack Pyeatt was 39th (27:58.26) and Parker Sevenstar was 44th (33:05.64).

Killer saw teammate Josh Bower also make the top 10 as he was sixth (19:21.25). Hunter Lowe was 23rd (22:32.52).

The Central Lady Tigers junior high cross country team won the team title in the JH girls division, thanks in part to a 1-2-3-4 finish by champion Sara Williams, runner-up Sadie Huff, third-place finisher Emma Baggs and fourth-place finisher Graye Riggs.

As for other Lady Tigers, Olivia Black was 10th, Shelby Jones was 16th and Sailor Bauer was 17th.

Roland also had some JH runners participate in the meet. In the JH girls’ race, Baylee Sergeant was seventh and Jaida Washington was 14th.

In the JH boys’ race, Dylan Lowe was seventh, Novion Reagan was 13th and Tommy Greschke was 14th.

In the elementary school boys’ race for Roland, Andrew Escobar won the individual title, with Silas King fourth, Kash Earnhart seventh and Hunter Barnes ninth. Marley Bonner was fourth in the elementary school girls’ race.

The Muldrow, Roland and Central runners were slated to end the regular season by running in the Checotah Crossroads Classic, which was slated to take place Tuesday.
