Back-to-back losses to Oologah end Muldrow’s softball season
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

MIAMI, Okla. — The 2024 fast-pitch softball season came to an end for Muldrow Lady Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon as they lost for the second straight day to the Oologah Lady Mustangs 4-1 in the loser’s-bracket final of the Class 4A Regional Tournament. Muldrow lost 11-1 to Oologah in Wednesday’s openinground game. The Lady Bulldogs end the season at 10-19.

In the season-ending loss to Oologah, the Lady Mustangs scored once in the first inning and twice in the second inning for a 3-0 lead.

Kaydence Young’s two-out, RBI double scored Jordan Johnson in the fourth inning to cut the Muldrow deficit 3-1, but that was as close as the Lady Bulldogs got as Oologah scored a big insurance run in the sixth inning.

In defeat, Young and Amarie Duran each doubled, while Jaydin Dean and Raegan Newbern singled for Muldrow.

Dean (7-9) took the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in six innings.

In the regional firstround loss to Oologah, Oologah pitcher Jocelyn Leak threw a six-inning three-hitter with six strikeouts.

The Lady Mustangs broke a scoreless tie with a four-run second inning, a five-run fourth inning and a two-run sixth inning to take an 11-0 lead.

The lone run for the Lady Bulldogs came in the sixth inning on Dean’s suicide-squeeze bunt, scoring Danica Tune.

In defeat, Tune tripled, while Young and Johnson each singled.

Young (3-10) suffered the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in four innings. Amaya Duran pitched the final two innings. The Lady Bulldogs made eight errors, which led to four unearned runs scoring.
