Roland Lady Rangers edge Stilwell, sweep Henryetta

It was a perfect week last week for the Roland Lady Rangers softball team as they edged the Stilwell Lady Indians 2-1 at home on Sept. 16, then swept a home District 3A-8 doubleheader from the the Henryetta Lady Golden Knights by scores of 9-1 and 13-4 on Sept. 17.

In the win over Stilwell, an error allowed Paisley Davis to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off victory for the Lady Rangers.

For the game, Addyson Clark was 2-for-3, while Jaydance Bean was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Roland. McKinna Cooper (11-10) got the win.

In the Game 1 victory over Henryetta, the Lady Rangers (13-10 overall, 8-4 in district play) broke a scoreless tie with a single run in the third inning and a six-run fourth inning for a 7-0 lead after four innings.

For the game, Ariana Acevedo was 2-for-4 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, Clark was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored, Kyleigh Knapp was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Davis was 2-for-2 with a run scored and Jordyn Bean doubled with an RBI for Roland.

Cooper got the win as she fanned two batters in seven innings.

In the nightcap, in which Roland was the visiting team, the Lady Rangers scored once in the first inning and three runs in the second inning for a 4-0 lead after two innings. Henryetta cut the deficit to 4-2 after three innings but got no closer.

For the game, Acevedo was 2-for-5 with an inside-the-park home run, three RBIs and three runs scored, Adriana Moya was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs, Clark was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored, Jordyn Bean was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, Jaydance Bean was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored and Davis was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Roland.

Cooper got the win, getting three Ks in seven innings.
