Central Lady Tigers go undefeated last week with wins over Vian, Cameron-Arkoma
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

It was a good week softball for the Central Lady Tigers as they won both of their games, beating the Vian Lady Wolverines 14-2 on Sept. 16 at Vian’s Armstrong Park to begin the week, then ended the week with a 18-1 home romp over the co-op Cameron- Arkoma team on Thursday before their football team picked up 36-13 home victory over the Roland Rangers later that night at Tiger Stadium.

In the win over Vian, the Lady Tigers (12-14) wasted little time in getting going, scoring twice in the first inning, three runs in the second inning and two more runs in the third inning for a 7-0 lead. After the Lady Wolverines cut their deficit to 7-2 after three innings, a seven-run fourth inning for Central put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Ayrland Jiles was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run, three runs batted in and two runs scored, Alyvia Warner was 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored, Allie Harris was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Riley Rowland was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Camryn Gilliam was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Brianna Taylor was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs and Charlie Petree doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Central.

Brenliegh Allen (99) got the win, throwing a four-hitter with two strikeouts.

In the victory over Cameron-Arkoma, the Lady Tigers wasted little time in putting away the game as they scored 12 runs in the opening inning for a 12-0 lead. A six-run second inning put the contest into run-rule status.

For the game, Petree was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, three runs batted in and three runs scored, Warner was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs, Rowland was 2-for-2 with a double and a two-run, inside-the-park home run, Jiles doubled with three runs scored and two RBIs and Allen tripled with three runs scored and an RBI for Central.

Allen got the win, throwing a three-inning three-hitter with three strikeouts.

The Lady Tigers will begin the playoffs with the Class 2A Regional Tournament, which will begin today at Wister where they will meet Howe at 1:30 this afternoon after Wister and Hulbert play at noon. The two losers will play an elimination game at 3 this afternoon, then the first two games’ winners will meet in the winner’s- bracket final at 4:30 p.m. On Thursday, the loser’s-bracket final will take place at 10 a.m., with the winner playing for the regional title at 11:30 a.m. The if-game is slated for 1 p.m. Thursday.
