Donald Ray Yates

Graveside services for Donald Ray Yates, 80, of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at Drakestand Cemetery in Sallisaw with Jerry Green officiating, under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services.

Mr. Yates was born on Feb. 14, 1944, to Carl E. Yates and Lillian Yates. He died on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024.

He owned Yates Food Center in Independence, Kan., and a small cattle operation in Coffeyville, Kan., and moved to Sallisaw in 2014. He enjoyed Kansas City Chief ’s football and Royals baseball.

Survivors include his son, Tony and Trica Yates; one brother, Roger Yates; five grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; and two brothers, Carl Aden and Daryl.

Pallbearers were Jarrod Yates, Joshua Yates, Bryce Milligan, Zayn Vinson, Jake Green and Justin Green.
