Muldrow Bulldogs get TD in three-way scrimmage at Gore with Hartshorne
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

The Muldrow Bulldogs football team had its first game-like situation for this preseason when they faced the Hartshorne Miners and the host Gore Pirates on Friday night at K.G. Horn Stadium.

The ’Dogs scored once during the threeway scrimmage on a 40yard touchdown run by Teaguen Collins.

Muldrow coach Logan Coatney was relatively pleased with how his team did for the time being under the “Friday Night Lights.”

“I thought we went out there and executed pretty well,” Coatney said. “We were able to get a lot of reps for our younger guys. Our guys who are JV and second string, the kids got a ton of reps. We limited what we did with our firststring guys. I’m very proud where we’re at, and what our kids knew and and the way we executed. We felt good what we accomplished while we were there.”

The Bulldogs will get their final preseason tune-up at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against Panama at Panama’s George Ollie Stadium. There are some things Coatney believes the ’Dogs will need to work on before they open the season at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 in the annual “Battle of 64” against the archrival Roland Rangers at Muldrow’s Marty Rogers Field.

We still have some stuff we need to clean up on,” Coatney said. “One is we have to catch the ball when it hits us in the hands. We had some drop balls that hit us in the hands that our guys have to catch. Then, there’s just the little things — taking the correct step with our offense line, so our guys don’t take the wrong step and having the defensive lineman getting a step on them. We need to clean up our fundamentals up front. We need to hone in on the everyday drills that we need to be able to execute — and hone in on how we need to be able to run the football.”

••• To Get There — Take U.S. 64 east into Fort Smith, Ark., where it becomes Garrison Avenue. Continue east on Garrison Avenue to Towson Avenue. Turn south on Towson Avenue to Zero Street. Take Zero Street west to Oklahoma State Highway 112. Take Oklahoma State Highway 112 south to U.S. 271. Take U.S. 271 south to Panama.
