Muldrow hires new school superintendent
By AMIE CATO-REMER EDITOR,

In one-minute special meeting

Muldrow Public School’s Board of Education hired a new school superintendent following a one- minute special meeting on April 4.

According to meeting minutes, the board convened at 6 p.m. and voted not to go into an executive session to interview for the school superintendent position for the 202425 school year.

Dowen Green then made a motion to hire Leon Ashlock as superintendent, followed by a second motion from Colby Wilson, with all other board members present voting yes.

Ashlock comes to Muldrow with nine years of experience as superintendent at both Cashion and Tahlequah Public Schools.

“I would like to thank the Muldrow Board of Education for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such an outstanding school district,” Ashlock said. “I am excited and honored to lead the continued commitment to excellence at Muldrow Public Schools (MPS). It is an honor to follow Mrs. Clifta Fugett, who has been an exceptional leader and devoted so much of her career to MPS.”

“I look forward to serving the staff, students, parents and community members of Muldrow,” Ashlock said. “Go Bulldogs!”
