Toys for Tots campaign in full swing for the holiday
By AMIE CATO-REMER EDITOR,

This year’s Toys for Tots campaign is in full swing and donation boxes and jars are set up and located at Dollar General stores in Sequoyah County, Harry Robinson in Sallisaw and Fort Smith, Tractor Supply, VFW posts at Muldrow and Sallisaw, and Pharm 788 at Roland.

According to Jackie Plank of Muldrow VFW Auxiliary 8384, the first day for toy distribution started on Nov. 27 and will run through Dec. 22. “The location is in Van Buren, Ark. where it was last year. It is the first road to the right coming off the Midland Ave. Bridge, then one to two blocks down, and the street is on the right,” Plank said. “A schedule is posted on the door, and participants are asked to not bring any children with them.”

Plank said those participating will need to bring a picture ID, and birth certificates and/or other legal papers showing the chosen children are legally theirs.

“You will get the toys you are allowed at that time. Normal ages are birth to 12-yearsold, but exceptions can be made for older siblings in the same family if any age-appropriate toys are available.”

Plank said they wish to thank all those who helped these kids have a Merry Christmas.

“Without everyone working together, there would be no Toys for Tots,” she said. “Last year we helped 3,400 children have a Merry Christmas and we hope to help even more this year.”

Muldrow VFW Post 8384 will also host a charitable pool tournament on Saturday, Dec. 16, with all proceeds going to Toys for Tots. For more details, contact Harold Lasiter at 479-926-0673 or call the VFW Post at 918-427-5871.

For further information and shopping times, Plank said to contact Toys for Tots at 479353-6208.
