Sept. 15, 1931 – Nov. 19, 2023

Sallisaw – Funeral services for Pete Smith, 92, formerly of Sallisaw, were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at the Agent & Mallory-Martin Chapel in Sallisaw.

Burial was at Akins Cemetery under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born on Sept. 15, 1931, in Rudy, Ark., to Jasper Cleo Smith and Sally Ann (Robertson) Smith. He died on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, in Fort Smith, Ark.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, a member of First Assembly of God Church in Sallisaw and retired inspector for Colt Industries. After retirement he drove dealer trades for Blue Ribbon Chevrolet.

He married Peggy Corrine Wallingsford on March 19, 1950, in Buena Park, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Smith of the home; two daughters, Peggy Sue Nichols of Van Buren, Ark., and Paula June and Todd Friday of Fort Smith; two sons, Doug and Karen Smith of Benton, Ark., and Don Smith of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a baby sister; and one brother, Ray Smith.

Pallbearers were Michael Smith, Brettly Smith, Zachary Smith, Todd Friday and Brian Mattingly.
