Muldrow Lady Bulldogs win season opener in dramatic fashion, but drop games in BA Tournament
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

Muldrow got the season off and running in dramatic fashion as Raya Keenan’s two-out, two-run, walk-off home run in the eighth inning propelled the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs to a 3-1 extra-inning home victory over the Stilwell Lady Indians on Aug. 7.

However, the seasonopening week ended on a down note as the Lady Bulldogs lost all four games in the two-day Broken Arrow Tournament — falling 5-1 to Oklahoma City Putnam City North, 9-4 to Edmond North, 9-1 to Edmond Memorial and 9-0 to Dewey.

In the season opener, with two outs in the eighth inning and the score tied at 1, Jaydin Dean hit a two-out single to right field. On a 1-2 count, Keenan hit a two-run, walk-off homer over the left-center field fence to win the game after the Lady Indians tied the game at 1 in the seventh inning on a bases-loaded walk.

The Lady Bulldogs (24) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a twoout, RBI single by Kaira Qualls.

For the game, Keenan was 4-for-4 with the walk-off, two-run homer, Kaydence Young was 2-for-4 with two doubles and Qualls was 2-for-2 with an RBI single.

Dean (2-3) got the win, pitching all eight innings with eight strikeouts.

In the tournament loss to Putnam City North, the Lady Bulldogs scored first on an RBI double by Amaya Duran in the first inning, scoring Young, for a 1-0 lead. However, PC North scored twice in the second and fourth innings, then added a run in the fifth inning.

For the game, Amaya Duran hit an RBI double, Young singled and scored Muldrow’s lone run and Dean, Danica Tune, Ashley Price and Heidi McGuire all singled. Dean took the loss.

In the tournament loss to Edmond North, the Lady Bulldogs struck first once again as Price scored on an Edmond North error in the opening inning for a 1-0 lead, but the Lady Huskies scored six runs in their half of the frame for a 6-1 lead after an inning.

Muldrow cut the deficit to 6-3 in the second inning on an RBI single by Qualls and an RBI double by Tune, but the Lady Bulldogs got no closer.

In defeat, Tune hit an RBI double, Qualls hit an RBI single and scored once and Price singled and scored once for Muldrow.

Qualls (0-1) took the loss, going the first 2.1 innings with a strikeout. Amaya Duran went the final 1.1 innings with a strikeout.

In the tournament loss to Edmond Memorial, for a third straight game, the Lady Bulldogs scored first on Dean’s sacrifice fly, scoring Amaya Duran, for a 1-0 lead, but Edmond Memorial tied the game in the third inning and put away the game with an eight-run fifth inning.

In defeat, Keenan and Amarie Duran each doubled, Amaya Duran singled and scored once and Dean singled. Dean took the loss, despite fanning three batters in 4.1 innings.

In the tournament loss to Dewey, the Lady Bulldogs were two-hit by the Dewey pitcher. Muldrow’s hits were a pair of singles, one each for Price and Keenan. Dean took the loss, although she recorded two Ks in 3.1 innings.
