ORU baseball coach tabbed as ABCA/ATE C Central Region Coach of the Year
By ORU MEDIA RELATIONS COURTESY,

TULSA — Oral Roberts University baseball coach Ryan Folmar has been tabbed as the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/ATEC Central Region Coach of the Year as announced Tuesday.

The ABCA/ATEC Regional and National Coaches of the Year are selected by members of the ABCA All-America and Coach of the Year committees in all nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division and high school.

Folmar, who earned the award for the first time in his career, led the Golden Eagles to a 52-14 record and their first College World Series appearance since 1978. The 52 victories were a new program record (DI-era) and marked the first 50-win season since 2004. In his 11th season at the helm of ORU, Folmar, the Summit League Coach of the Year, guided the Golden Eagles to their 20th Summit League Regular Season title, 21st Summit League Championship title, 30th NCAA Regional appearance and a No. 5 national ranking (Collegiate Baseball/NCBWA), which matches the highest in program history.

The 2023 ABCA/ATEC National Coaches of the Year in all divisions were to be announced Wednesday.

Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its more-than 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
