Muldrow Slated to Start Regional Tourney Thursday

Muldrow’s high school softball team begins postseason action this week when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Miami for their Class 4A regional.

Muldrow’s high school softball team begins postseason action this week when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Miami for their Class 4A regional.

The tournament is tentatively scheduled to begin on Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs (15-10 overall), who finished second in the District 4A-8 standings this season, play Harrah (15-7) at 2 p.m. in their tournament opener. Harrah was the thirdplace finisher in 4A-5.

Miami (19-4), the 4A-7 champion, meets Stilwell (19-10) at noon. Stilwell, which lost 11-0 at Muldrow on Aug. 27, placed fourth in 4A-6 and defeated Inola twice (10-4 and 10-6) in its play-in series last week at Stilwell.

The Muldrow-Harrah loser takes on the Miami-Stilwell loser at 4 p.m. on Thursday and the winners of the firstround games play at 6 p.m.

The double-elimination tournament resumes on Friday with contests scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m. (if-necessary game).

The Miami Regional winner advances to next week’s Class 4A state tournament, which will be played at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City on Oct. 14-16

Ṁuldrow lost a pair of tune-up games at home last week to 3A Vian (6-2) and 5A Tahlequah (13-0).

Stigler, the 4A-8 champion, hosts Fort Gibson, Oologah-Talala and Cushing in its regional tournament this week.

Poteau, which finished third in 4A-8, travels to Verdigris, the 4A-6 winner, for its regional tournament and Berryhill and either Jay or Idabel will also play in that regional.

Broken Bow placed fourth in 4A-8 and will journey to Bristow, the 4A-5 champion, for its regional tourney. Hilldale and Skiatook will also compete in the Bristow Regional.
