Roland Lady Rangers beat Checotah, suffer six losses last week

It was a rough week on the softball diamond for the Roland Lady Rangers as they went 1-6 last week.

The lone Roland win was a 12-10 victory over Checotah last Thursday in the Checotah Festival.

The Lady Rangers opened the week by losing both games of a three-way on April 7 at Porum — losing 14-2 to Porum in three innings and falling 8-4 to Stilwell — before suffering a 21-6 loss to Panama and a 10-2 loss to Eufaula in the Checotah Festival and then losing both games in the Warner Tournament — 10-0 to Sequoyah-Tahlequah and 13-10 to Vian.

In the loss to Porum, after the Lady Rangers (2-14) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady Panthers scored five runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning and six runs in the third inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Paisley Davis doubled with a run scored and a run batted in, Kaia Cantrell doubled with an RBI and Karsyn Serjeant tripled for Roland.

Laynie Roedenbeck suffered the loss, not recording an out in the opening inning. Moya went the rest of the way.

In the loss to Stilwell, the Lady Indians took the lead for good with a three-run first inning. The Lady Rangers scored once in the second inning to cut their deficit to 3-1 but got no closer.

In defeat, Roedenbeck was 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, Serjeant was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Lillian Cole was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Davis was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Cantrell was 2-for-4 and Moya tripled and scored once for Roland. Moya took the loss.

In the win over Checotah, Lillian Cole doubled with two RBIs and a run scored, while Davis doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Roland. Moya got the win.

In the loss to Panama, after the Lady Rangers used a six-run second inning to cut their deficit to 7-6, the Lady Razorbacks scored 10 runs in the second inning and four runs in the third inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Moya was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Serjeant was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Davis was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, Hannah Pratt was 2-for-2 with a run scored, Kyleigh Knapp doubled with an RBI and a run scored and Cole doubled for Roland. Moya suffered the loss.

In the loss to Eufaula, after the Lady Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady Ironheads responded with a 10-run first inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Moya was 2-for-2, while Davis hit her second homer of the season for Roland. Roedenbeck took the loss.

In the loss to Sequoyah- Tahlequah, Sequoyah-Tahlequah pitcher S.J. Chocolate tossed a three-hitter, with those hits being singles by Cantrell, Pratt and Landyn Ramey. Moya took the loss.

In the loss to Vian, the Lady Rangers fell behind 3-1 after an inning and 11-6 in the fourth inning.

In defeat, Moya was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and an RBI, Serjeant was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored, Davis was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Knapp was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored and KeyLee Thompson was 2-for-2 with a run scored for Roland. Moya suffered the loss.

The Lady Rangers found last Friday that they will go to McLoud for next week’s Class 5A District Tournament where they will be joined by Seminole.
