Muldrow Bulldogs reach Central Tiger Shootout finals

The Muldrow Bulldogs baseball team was hoping to end last week with a tournament title, but Mother Nature had other ideas.

After the ’Dogs blanked Westville 10-0 in four innings on Thursday and avenged an earlier loss to Vian as they knocked off the Wolverines 5-1 on Friday in the 2026 Central Tiger Shootout, Muldrow was poised to play for a championship on Saturday.

However, Friday evening’s showers rained out the other semifinal game between host Central and Stilwell as well as any action on Saturday.

At press time, it was not known when the remainder of the tournament will be made up.

The two tournament wins capped a perfect week for the Bulldogs as they began with week with a District 4A-8 home sweep at Idabel on April 6 by scores of 6-2 and 14-1 in six innings.

In the first win over Idabel, the Bulldogs (612 overall, 2-8 in District 4A-8) play, snapped a five-game losing streak with a district home sweep of the Warriors.

In the opener, a fourrun sixth inning broke a 2-all tie for the ’Dogs.

For the game, Jack Rhodes was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, Wyatt Prewett was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and Jackson Phillips was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Muldrow.

Hayden McKinster (1-4) got his first win of the season, going the first 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts. Brody Israel got the final two outs, both coming by strikeout.

In the nightcap in which the Warriors were the home team, the Bulldogs scored three runs in the first inning, twice in the second inning and three runs in the fourth inning for an 8-0 lead. A five-run sixth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Gabe Miller was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Jace Prewett was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored and Phillips doubled and scored three runs for Muldrow.

Jace Prewett (2-2) got his first win of the season, going the first five innings with eight strikeouts. Israel went the sixth inning and struck out the side.

In the tournament win over Westville, Rhodes (2-1) got the win, pitching a fourinning two-hitter with four strikeouts.

The ’Dogs gave Rhodes all the run support he needed with a five-run first inning. A three-run second inning and a two-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Miller was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, three runs scored and an RBI, Wyatt Prewett went 2-for-3 with a double and his first home run of the season, two RBIs and two runs scored, Jace Prewett went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and an RBI, McKinster and Phillips each doubled with an RBI and a run scored and Lyle Yancey doubled and scored once for Muldrow.

In the tournament victory over Vian, the Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead after an inning. After the Wolverines cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fourth inning, the ’Dogs scored once in the fourth in-ning and twice in the sixth inning to put away the game.

For the contest, Rhodes was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Miller was 2-for-4 with a double, his first homer of the season and two runs scored, Trey Turpin was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Jace Prewett doubled for Muldrow.

Jace Prewett got the win as he went all seven innings with nine strikeouts.
