Local powerlifters place at Panama’s Iron Hog Classic

PANAMA — Several local high school and junior high powerlifters placed at last week’s Iron Hog Classic.

Last Friday saw high school boys powerlifters compete, in which the Roland Rangers were fifth in the small school division in the team standings with 80 points.

Three Rangers placed as Joshawa Crase was runner-up at 198 pounds with a total of 1,015 pounds lifted, Alexander Criswell was fourth at 145 with 725 pounds total lifted and John Allen was fourth at 275 with 1,060 pounds lifted.

Gans Grizzlies powerlifter Anthony Vasquez was the champion in the small school division at 181 pounds as he lifted a total of 1,355 pounds. Teammate Dalton Scott was fifth at 157 pounds with a total of 880 pounds lifted.

In the boys large school division on Friday, five Muldrow Bulldogs placed.

David Keenen was second at 123 pounds with a total of 655 pounds lifted, Alejandro Santacruz was third at 220 with 1,285 total pounds lifted, Gabe Smalley was fourth at 157 with 970 pounds lifted, JoVon Hood was fourth at 168 with 870 pounds lifted all total and Jaxon Kerr was fifth at 275 with a total of 1,005 pounds lifted.

The Central Tigers had two powerlifters place in the small school division on Friday as Braxton Prewett was fourth at 220 pounds with a total of 1,110 pounds lifted, while Matt Berton was sixth at 275 with 975 total pounds lifted.

Last Wednesday saw two Roland Lady Rangers 143-pound powerlifters compete and place as Paisley Davis was fourth with a total of 600 pounds lifted, and Mira Reagan was right behind her in fifth place with 550 pounds total lifted. They were slated to participate in the Class 3A Regional Meet on Tuesday in Fairview.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs had several placers, including three champions as Zaylenny Williams was first at 132 pounds with a total of 815 pounds lifted, Alex Rodriguez was the champ at 145 pounds with 820 pounds total lifted and Xavier Coby was first at heavyweight with 1,265 pounds lifted total.

Landon Brown was third at 198 pounds with a total of 730 pounds lifted, Israel Moss was third at heavyweight with 930 pounds total lifted, Jobe Cravens was fourth at 123 pounds with 560 pounds lifted total, Ethan Kosier was fifth at 123 pounds with a total of 420 pounds lifted and Briston Weaver was fifth at 242 pounds with 920 total pounds lifted.

All of the local boys powerlifters will be idle until their respective regional meet next week.

The Bulldogs will be at the Class 4A Regional Meet at 9 a.m. March 6 in Hartshorne, the Rangers will be at the Class 3A Regional Meet at 9 a.m. March 6 at Hilldale High School in Muskogee, the Tigers will be at the Class A Regional Meet at 9 a.m. March 6 in Hartshorne and the Grizzlies will be in the Class B, Division II Regional Meet at 9 a.m. March 7 in Hartshorne.
