Pour Out Your Heart to God

Pour Out Your Heart to God

“Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us” (Ps 62).

What does it mean to “pour out your heart before Him?” It is by prayer. We confess our sin… all sin from a repentant and sincere heart. Then the heart is truly “poured out before Him.” We should always have a prayerful heart and spirit.

We may be spending too much time asking for things! If there is one thing that Satan will do to hinder our fellowship with God, it is keeping Christians from confessing sin. This hinders prayer! Sin prevents blessings. You are not available for service. The work is hindered.

If he can get your mind on self and it is a “self ” time in society. Self worship is sin!

When we “pour out our heart” before our God we experience real worship. We will know rest and peace in Him.

David sings praises as he rested in God. The enemy has no idea of what can happen, he is just busy doing evil to God’s man. David said: “You shall be slain, all of you, Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence” (Ps. 62:3). They have a rotten foundation and it will sink with its own weight. It will fall and take those with it that put themselves under its protection or trust.

“Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor” (v. 9). These men can’t be trusted. They live a lie. If you are convinced to trust in politicians, religious leaders etc. you will be deceived! They must be filtered through Scriptures. When weighed on the scales they will be found to be “lighter than vapor.” Don’t depend on their worldly wisdom to advise you with their worldly power and promises.

We are called to “Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us” (v.8.)

“Do not trust in oppression cruel exercise of authority or power, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them” (v. 10). Wealth is fine when gained honestly and used to glorify God. It becomes sin when we set our heart on it. Never put confidence in it! Don’t worship money!

The world has much to offer, but it has not spiritual value. Society seeks to draw your heart away from God. Many professing Christ are being swayed in that direction. You need to repent,“pour out your heart” to God!

Today is an opportunity to trust in God. It is the time to have faith.… and not trust in man or money.

“God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work” (v. 11-12).

David shares his personal experiences, his commitment and confidence in God that “power belongs to God.” He is the God of power, mercy and righteousness. David heard through the Word of God and he heard with his soul and mind. It was in his heart. “God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this:” To some God speaks twice and they never hear it once. To others God speaks once and they hear it twice.”

Have you heard His Word? Did it sink into your heart, mind and soul? Has it become a part of who you are? Hearing leads to faith and faith to rest in Him. Nothing is impossible with God!!! We must “Trust in Him at all times,” The enemy was defeated on the Cross (Col 2:15). When we trust God, pray, repent of sin we have the victory. All our enemies have their reward. They will not go unpunished!

Unbelievers you are a leaning wall and a tottering fence, no foundation in Christ. Hear Him! God is still saving souls!

Christian, read your Bible through this year. It builds faith. See His love, power, mercy and righteousness. Your commitment and confidence in Him will mature.

“Pour out your heart to Him!”
