Muldrow ends last week’s action with home win over Roland
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs ended last week by avenging their school’s football loss to Roland on Friday night, downing the Lady Rangers 6-2 in Muldrow.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the week Aug. 21 with a nine-inning 8-6 district road win over Checotah, but lost a non-district contest 14-1 to Pocola on Aug. 22 at home.

In the win over Roland, the Lady Bulldogs (6-6) broke the scoreless deadlock on Jaydin Dean’s one-out, RBI single in the second inning, scoring Danica Tune, for a 1-0 lead. Tune’s two-out, two-run double in the third inning increased Muldrow’s advantage to 3-0 after three innings. Amaya Duran’s RBI single in the fourth inning made it 4-0.

After the Lady Rangers (6-6) cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fifth inning, Muldrow scored twice in its half of the frame for a 6-2 lead.

For the game, Tune was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, three runs batted in and two runs scored, Dean was 3-for-4 with a triple, a run score and an RBI, Kaydence Young doubled and scored once and Amarie Duran doubled with an RBI for Muldrow. Dean (5-4) got the win, striking out seven batters in seven innings.

In the district road win over Checotah, after the host Lady Wildcats tied the game at 5-all in the seventh inning to force extra innings, the Lady Bulldogs (2-1 in district play) broke the deadlock with a threerun ninth inning, then held off a Checotah rally in the bottom of the frame, to get the district victory.

For the game, Ashley Price was 2-for-6 with a run scored, while Amaya Duran was 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for Muldrow.

Dean got the win in relief, going the final four innings with three strikeouts. Kaydence Young started, going the first five innings with four Ks.

In the loss to Pocola, the Pocola pitching trio of Allyssa Parker, Kyleigh Combs and Alli Loman combined to four-hit the Lady Bulldogs.

In defeat, Amarie Duran was 2-for-3 and scored once, Young singled and Amaya Duran doubled for Muldrow.

Amaya Duran (0-1) suffered the loss, going the first four innings. Young went the final three innings with a strikeout.
