CAMERON — The high school basketball playoff run came to a screeching halt for the Gans Grizzlies as they lost a heartbreaking 44-43 game to the Red Oak Eagles in the Class B, Division II Regional Tournament consolation quarterfinals last Thursday night at Cameron Arena.
The Grizzlies ended the season at 6-19.
After Gans led 9-4 after a quarter, the Eagles flew past the Grizzlies 11-4 in the second period to take a 15-13 halftime lead en route to a 33-23 advantage going into the third quarter.
The Grizzlies clawed their way back in the final period, outscoring the Eagles 20-11 in the fourth quarter, but their rally came up just short — and their season came to a close.
In defeat, Austin Hines led Gans with 17 points, followed by Eli Blackmon with nine points, Jessie Phillips with eight points, Bryce Stevens with six points, Aiden Garcia with two points and Preston Moore with a free throw.
