Roland Rangers suffer district losses to Holland Hall, Stigler
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

It was a rough week of District 3A-8 for the Roland Rangers as they suffered a pair of district doubleheader losses.

The week started by the Rangers losing both district games to the Tulsa Holland Hall Dutch, who won Game 1 9-0 on March 30 in Roland before taking Game 2 by the score of 10-5 on March 31 in Tulsa.

The week ended by the Rangers dropping both games last Thursday at Stigler as the Panthers won the opener 8-4, then took the nightcap — in which the Rangers were the home team — by the score of 20-0 in five innings.

In the first loss to Holland Hall, the Rangers (2-11 overall, 2-8 in District 3A-8 play) were four-hit.

The Dutch scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings, then put away the game with a six-run fifth inning.

In defeat, Austin Benham, Alex Brant, Avery Moya and Channing McKinney each singled for Roland.

Laken Honeycutt (03) took the loss, but was the lucky pitcher as six of the Dutch’s runs were unearned due to two Roland errors.

In the second loss to Holland Hall, the Dutch broke a scoreless tie with a two-run second inning and a pair of four-run innings in the fourth and fifth innings for a 10-0 lead.

The Rangers kept the game from reaching run-rule status by scoring once in the sixth inning and five runs in the seventh inning, but their late rally came up short.

In defeat, Moya was 2-for-2 with a run scored, Brant was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored and Ryder Bean tripled with two RBIs for Roland.

Brant (1-3) took the loss, despite fanning five batters in six innings.

In the first loss to Stigler, the Panthers broke a 2-all tie with a run in the third inning, three runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning for an 8-2 lead.

In defeat, McKinney was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Bean was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Brant doubled for Roland.

Hunter Burris (0-2) suffered the loss, going the first four innings with a strikeout. Carson Manchester went the final two innings.

In the second loss to Stigler, after the Panthers scored once in the first inning, they put away the game with a 14-run second inning. A run in the fourth inning and a single run in the fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Moya was 2-for-3, while Manchester singled for the only hits for Roland.

Brett Mauldin (0-2) took the loss, going the first 1.2 innings. Manchester went the next 2.1 innings with two strikeouts. Moya pitched the final inning.
